My Little Hottie

I love a hot water bottle at the end of the bed defrosting my toes.  I recently invested A$5 in a new one, but it was way too hot to handle when nude.

A nude hot water bottle is a very dangerous thing.

So I got to work making a cover. I repurposed a woollen baby’s vest that my toddler wore before he could toddle, as I figured his pot-bellied torso was exactly the size and shape of a full hot water bottle. I also used a sleeve from an old cashmere jumper as a turtleneck sweater to be worn under the vest, providing a double layer of insulation. (You know the kind of double-knit layered look favoured by latin professors who also wear white shoes?).

So now a favourite baby momento has a new life as a charmingly nerdy little hottie, a reminder of how small my boy once was.
